Preheader: Clean copy is not proof.
A clean AI draft does not mean the process worked.
It means the process produced clean text.
That is a much lower bar.
This is where most AI writing systems get annoying. The draft has structure. The sentences are smooth. The doc is long enough to make everyone feel productive.
Then someone reads it and says, "This is not what I meant."
Now nobody knows which part failed.
Did the source get lost? Did the human never give a point of view? Did the outline drift? Did the voice get soft? Did anyone save the correction, or will the same mistake show up again next week?
Most teams cannot answer because their workflow is a chat window with a folder beside it.
Do the boring version instead.
Before drafting, create two small files.
First file: source packet.
Put the links, notes, quotes, examples, numbers, claims, and screenshots the draft is allowed to use.
Second file: human note.
Write the point of view in plain language:
what are we actually saying?
what are we arguing against?
what line should not get softened?
what should the draft not say, even if it sounds clever?
Approve the outline before the draft starts.
Then make every section leave a note beside it:
source used
job of the section
claim being made
human judgment added
After the draft, run two checks.
Source check:
which claims are unsupported?
which examples drifted from the source?
which details sound plausible but are not in the packet?
Voice check:
where does it sound like a consultant?
where does it keep explaining after the point landed?
where does it end with fake gravity instead of a useful move?
Then save only the correction that should affect the next run.
Not every edit belongs in a skill. Some edits are taste. Some are one-off context. Some are just the human being annoyed because the draft sounds wrong.
Treat those differently.
A recurring correction can become a checklist item.
A one-off preference can stay in the project notes.
A vague complaint needs another question before it becomes automation.
If your AI workflow cannot point to the source packet, the human note, the section notes, and the two checks, do not send the draft yet.
Run the checks first.
